Governance

• Provide an assessment of endowment oversight along with specific recommendations for improvement and investment committee best practices.
• Advise an organization on the effective use of external specialized resources.
• Work with the Investment Committee to ensure that the Investment Policy Statement is structured appropriately to serve the long term objectives of the organization.
• Review the investment reports provided to the Investment Committee and Board and make recommendations for improving the quality of information, clarity of thought and effectiveness of the communication.
• For an endowment, determine what portion of its annual budget can be met from the endowment and comment on the endowment's ability to fund this annual draw. 
• For a foundation, advise on the setting of its life expectancy and grant making goals.

Endowment Management

• Provide an assessment of the current investment team/service providers and make recommendations for improving their coordinated efforts and results. 
• Advise an organization on whether it should outsource oversight of its endowment to an outsourced CIO ("OCIO").
• Work with Boards and Investment Committees by structuring and leading an appropriate process by which the client can evaluate and select an OCIO provider that is well suited to its needs.

Other Guidance

• For a venture firm, identify the key characteristics and offering terms necessary for it to appeal to institutional investors.
• Advise an organization on how to think about investment fees within the construct of their overall portfolio construction.
• Work with Boards and Investment Committees to define their concept of "impact investing".  Work with their provider to define investment and social objectives and to select criteria for assessing the magnitude of success as well as lessons learned.
• Serve on a retainer basis for large institutions and family office clients.
